Indulge in a taste that dates back thousands of years

Tiger nuts (hab al-‘aziz), or chuffa, were popular in ancient Egypt. One of the walls of the tomb of Rekhmire in Luxor, who was vizier during the reign of Kings Thutmose III (c.1479–1425 BC) and Amenhotep II (c.1427–1400 BC), bears scenes depicting cakes being baked using tiger nuts. They show different elements in the process of baking these chuffa cakes, but they do not cover all the steps. Regardless, these vignettes are so detailed that, although no recipe in the strict sense of the word is written, we are today able to bake this delicious dessert and taste it once again!

لقد كان "حب العزيز"  شائعًا في مصر القديمة. وكان مصورًا على أحد جدران مقبرة رخميرع في الأقصر ، الذي كان وزيرًا في عهد الملكين تحتمس الثالث ( حوالي1479-1425 قبل الميلاد) وأمنحتب الثاني ( حوالي 1425-1400 قبل الميلاد) ، حيث تم تصوير الكعك وهو يتم خبزه باستخدام "حب العزيز".
وعلى الرغم من عدم كتابة أي وصفة بالمعنى الدقيق للكلمة، إلا أن المناظر مفصّلة للغاية، ويمكننا اليوم خبز هذه الحلوى اللذيذة وتذوقها مرة أخرى!
